The government of Hong Kong SAR provides quality school education for students to develop their potential. A “Student-centered” approach has become a contemporary educational concept that individual needs and difference of the students have to take into account. For teaching different students in an effective way, professional learning and support programmes are needed for schools.

The Association has provided educational psychological support services since September 2004 and introduced clinical psychological services for students starting from May 2006 to provide them with support services with the cooperation of the schools and parents.


To provide professional services by educational and clinical psychologists for schools and to support the students with special needs by a “Whole School” Approach. In general, on-site educational and clinical psychologists provide services including assessment, consultation, training and counselling.


The Association serving children with special education needs including dyslexia, autism, attention deficit disorder etc. Services include:

  1. Assessment
  2. Provision of intellectual, learning, cognitive and psychological assessment for children and youth in order to identify their needs.

  3. Consultation
  4. a. To help student supporting group members analyze and understand the needs of the student through timely meetings, and to follow Individualized Education Plan for those with special education needs.

    b. Provision of consultation to schools and parents to help them analyze and understand the needs of the children, and to offer advice on crisis intervention and management.

  5. Training
  6. Provision of lectures, seminars and workshops to help school administrators, teachers, school social workers and parents better understand the needs of the students and how to support them.

  7. Counselling
  8. Provision of counselling services for the children with special educational needs and their parents.

Interested parties might apply for Intensive Learning Support Grant provided by Education Bureau. The service charge would be adjusted subject to individual condition of the school and student.
