【A New Outdoor Ice Skating Experience: Learning to Embrace Success and Failure】

During the Christmas season, members from The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong Jockey Club Ma On Shan East Integrated Service Centre for Children and Youth and Mei Foo Integrated Service Centre for Children and Youth were invited by Longchamp Company Limited to participate in the La Patinoire Longchamp. They had the rare opportunity to ice skate outdoors in Hong Kong and enjoyed a festive atmosphere unlike any other.

This activity provided children with their first experience of outdoor ice skating in a safe environment, and they learned basic skating skills. Throughout the activity, children kept trying, adjusting, and improving. By falling and getting back up, they gradually built balance and coordination, while also developing courage and perseverance when facing challenges. For parents, it was a valuable chance to watch and support their children during the learning process. It encouraged them to offer positive reinforcement, strengthening mutual understanding and fostering parent-child bonds through shared growth.

Along with ice skating, the program featured festive workshops where children made gingerbread cookies, giving them a chance to express their creativity. They also enjoyed hot chocolate, creating warm and memorable moments in a joyful festive setting.
