【Simple handmade decompression to provide care for schoolchildren】

The volunteer team of Waihong Services Group collaborated with the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong Jockey Club Sau Mau Ping Integrated Youth Service Centre to host a unique DIY mosaic coaster workshop for the After School Care Programme (ASCP) students. During the event, the volunteers became creative mentors, patiently guiding the students to use their imagination to arrange colourful mosaic tiles into distinctive works of art. Throughout the production process, the volunteers assisted diligently and helped the students alleviate their learning stress through relaxing conversations and small games.

The workshop scene was filled with laughter. The students were engrossed in their creations, occasionally admiring one another's work and sharing creative inspiration with the volunteers. At the end of the event, the Waihong Service Group volunteer team prepared refuelling gift packs and handwritten greeting cards for each student, enhancing the sense of warmth. One participating student excitedly exclaimed, 'I want to place this coaster on my desk so I can see it daily while doing my homework!" This activity fostered the students' creative thinking and practical skills while conveying social care through cross-generational interaction.
