BGCA is committed to promoting the balanced development of children and youth and building a healthy and happy environment for the growth of future generations. Our support services for families promote quality parent-child interaction and enhance family dynamics by strengthening family bonds. Our community-based interventions include:
1. Promoting Holistic Child Development
Our Empirical Research on Home Observation for Measurement of Environment Inventory (HOME) is the first set of validated evaluation tools for infants and pre-school children in Hong Kong. It helps parents provide a stimulating and positive home environment for infants to promote holistic development and strengthen parenting skills.
2. Interdisciplinary Teams for Pre-school Rehabilitation Services
Consisting of social workers, clinical/educational psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and special childcare workers, our interdisciplinary service teams provide early intervention for pre-school children with special education needs. BGCA is dedicated to improving collaboration among families, schools and communities, and actively introducing innovative training tools to increase interests and training effectiveness.
3. Unveiling Children's Strengths and Parents' Potential
BGCA encourages parents to adopt a strengths-based approach to parenting, focusing on developing their children's individual strengths. This lets them feel supported, appreciated, and affirmed by their parents, fostering genuine connections with society as they grow. Parenting children with special education needs is challenging, but we believe that by helping parents rediscover their love for parenting and maintaining connections with the community, they can build self-confidence and march on with their children.
4. Promoting Parental Self-Care for Physical and Mental Health
Caring for children with special education needs can be mentally exhausting, making it important to promote physical and mental health for parents. We firmly believe that parents with healthy bodies, minds, and spirits can better support their children and nurture safer parent-child relationships, letting children grow healthily and happily.
