【S+ Summit cum Expo 2024 】SEN stories and corporate partnership

Today's children, teenagers and families are facing many difficulties and tests. Therefore, by providing different services and special programs, we allow these families to understand each other in life and allow children to adapt to changes in their growth. We firmly believe that as long as we stay with them on the road, whenever they feel confused and self-blame, self-doubt and denial, they can find clues of change in their lives and find the light of hope.

Hei Hei (alias) is a gifted boy with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He experiences intense emotional fluctuations, often hitting his head to vent his anger and occasionally making hissing sounds. At first, his parents tried to stop his behaviour through scolding and punishment. However, with the help of a social worker, they gradually learnt more effective parenting techniques, including mindful breathing and brainstorming solutions.

Lok Kiu (alias) has autism and mild speech impairment. She struggles to understand others and can be lost in her own thoughts, leading her to express inappropriate emotions and behaviours. In the past, she often wandered around school alone and felt lonely due to lack of friends. Since joining our social group, she had the chance to learn and practice her social skills and her social interactions have significantly improved. She can now converse with her classmates and express care for others.

Yu Hin (alias) has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), often involuntarily twitching his body or making odd sounds, impacting his emotions, social interactions, family dynamics, and learning. This left him feeling deeply disheartened. However, with the assistance of a social worker, Yu Xuan began cognitive behavioural therapy to manage his physical symptoms, learn emotional expression, and recognize his self-worth. Additionally, he rebuilt his confidence by developing an interest in dancing.

Corporate Partnership

BGCA invites all sectors to join in the effort to support grassroot children, youth and families who face special educational needs (SEN) and mental health challenges.
