“Nite Cat Online” Pilot Cyber Youth Outreaching Project

Introduction

Garnered the sponsorship of Lotteries Fund of Social Welfare Department, three years project. Nite Cat Online” Pilot Cyber Youth Outreaching Project has been established in August 2011. Response to the popularization of internet usage and increasing problem among youth, we attempt to reach out the needed youth and provide services through many different cyber means, e.g. social media websites, forums, blogs and instant messaging tools etc. Hope that it could increase communication with youth and broaden the service boundary.

Aims

  • To provide a simple and convenient way to seek help

  • To established an online platform for the potential talent

  • To share healthy and interesting online information to the energetic youth

  • To build up the mutual caring internet culture with youth

Service Target

Young internet user aged under 24

Services

  1. Nite Cat Chat Room
  2. We provide online counselling service from 15:00 to 03:00 on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (except public holidays). Staff or volunteers will also be the counsellor and chat with the needed youth instantly.

  3. Life Workshop

  4. We arrange different kinds of activities, trainings and workshops to the youth, in order to help them discover themselves.

  5. Nite Cat-Cyber Cafe Partnership Program
  6. We cooperate with different cyber cafes and organize different activities inside to reach out and support more needed youth.

  7. Nite Cat Radio
  8. We produce online radio program to spread the positive message to the youth.

  9. Information Literacy and Internet Civil Education

  10. Youth were encouraged to actively care and participate in our society through participating in activity which is related to social issue.

  11. Nite Cat Box

  12. We provide online sharing spaces to the youth and they could share their talent and thought, in order to increase their confidence.

  13. Online Volunteer
  14. We recruit online volunteer to find and identify the needed youth.

  15. Nite Cat Ambassador
  16. We recruit university students as the online peer counselors. After training, they could provide counseling service to the needed youth.
